Porsche purists will agonize over the tiniest details of cars from the brand. While they’ll often pine over painstaking reimaginings of what a Porsche can be when the likes of Singer or RWB get their hands on one, they don’t tend to love personally modified examples very much. That’s what makes this wild 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet a giant middle finger to the status quo.

On the hood and rear decklid are RUF badges. Of course, this particular car was never tuned by RUF but it’s certainly modified in a similar spirit. According to the listing over on Cars & Bids, the owner claims that it develops 780 horsepower (581 kW).

There’s no dyno sheet to prove that figure but the list of modifications seems to support it. Originally, this car came with a 3.1-liter naturally aspirated flat-six. The engine that now rests in the car is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six reportedly built by Promotive, Inc. in Harrison, AR.

It utilizes a Turbonetics T3 “Stage 3” turbo kit, a twin-plug fuel injection system, and custom ECU tuning to make what is assuredly more power than stock. That power is then sent to the rear wheels only via a five-speed manual transmission. The modifications don’t stop there though.

The seats are from a 996-generation 911. The red soft-top is from a 1997 911, and the whole car is supported by 18-inch HRE wheels and adjustable coilovers. The dash sports carbon fiber trim along with a boost gauge, a Continental head unit, and a rear-view camera.

If you don’t love the green on red with yellow brake caliper combo, don’t worry; the car itself is actually silver underneath that green, which itself, is just a wrap. In fact, the green on the seat backs is a wrap too. There’s no getting around the red interior though, that’s there to stay.

Personally, this is exactly the type of Porsche I’d prefer to own as it’s bound to be stupid fast and won’t depreciate a great deal with every mile I put on it. Additionally, the last thing on the mind of the person driving the snot out of this car is going to be what the purists think of it.
